North of Naini Tal and at an altitude of 1829 metres, this peaceful hill station offers excellent views of the snowcapped Himalayas including Nada Devi It's an important army town and the head quarters of the Kumaon Regiment.

Not yet developed as a tourist centre Ranikhhet is a delightful place to spend some time. There are several good walks to Jhula Devei Temple and the orchards at Chaubatia and there's even a golf course with a 300 km panoramic view of the Himalayas!
